what are the benefits of having a source client?

The benefit is you can add/remove/edit anything you want easily, such as the speed integer value display on weapons, auto attack, you can make it so that the client checks server time and if it's christmas it will cover the floor with snow etc. Anything you can think of you can add it. Fin is working on mapping the client offsets and functions so I'm sure soon you'd be able to do all that with the normal client too.

afaik c++ is not something you download its somethink you learn

It should be noted that whilst it is possible to get this source code to compile, its the BETA client and needs quite a bit of work to be of any use.
