[Release] Sprite Pack

Postby Aril » Mon Aug 01, 2011 3:21 am

Finally, after over 20 hours mind-numbing work, it's finished!

This sprite pack comes in Human and Devil; all relating Sprites both for the character animation, inside the character pain, and in your inventory are included.

Inside you will find the files organised by type (Armor/Weapon/Item/Hairstyle) with Armor and Weapons then going into subtypes (such as Melee/Caster/Cloth and Sword/Knuckle/Bow etc.). These are then 'further!' sub-divided into Male or Female! All the hassle of finding your images has been removed.

But wait, there's more! As an added bonus I have included text files in all of the main folders that contain the .spl reference, the sPicNum1 reference, and the strName references; all valid to the standard ESoma client and most up to date Database found here on Somadev. With these and the give instructions you can edit the Item directory (included) for inventory sprites.

To use the, simply unpack the folder an copy out whatever files you want, using the SPLtoBMP converter (attached) created by Philkills. Edit your files together in you program of choice (iSylver's guide on doing this) then use the BMPtoSPL converter (attached) to put them back to the correct format. Now you use the .txt files to find exactly what names to overwrite, or whats free to add them in to the item list.

Lastly, I have attached the Item.idx that I was using; open it using Notepad and edit according to Finito's guide (found here).

Any question, just post in the thread. I'd love some feedback on missing areas; the longterm goal is to create a skin library of implementable 'full' sets.

UPDATES TO COME: I am currently working on a Monster Library and Object/Tileset library.

Soma Image Viewer still views files, but it didn't sort them. This way people with no database experience can find and make new skins quickly. More new skins / developers in the community, the more diverse skins we have on offer for the players!

Yeah, I understand what your saying.. But its making easy work even easier.

There is no need to knock out new skins, Its new content people want to see. I could properly knock out a 5 new skinned armours and weapons and imput them into the db with new item numbers in 2hours...

But again i did say nice work ... its just making it easy work easier for people!!! Spoon feed !

Yes but 'brand new' skins are likely to be combinations of existing ones, and finding skins that do so appropriatly is the hardest part. This simplifies that time-consuming part of the process.
