I would love to but i am put off by the fact that every month there is a charge to be able to play it plus a character charge for each character you have.

comes to about £7~£10 per month

The cost is nothing in terms of living expenses. It would be a shame to see someone be captured by the footage and not be willing to pay.

One thing I do know, is that you only need 1 character to actually succeed in all aspects of the game, much like soma. After lvl 10 or so you can switch to a Lancer from a Gladiator for example, and utilise its skills (once you lvl it up) to progress your main job into a class of your own so you can utilise certain buffs on your main (the secondary jobs are not restricted either so you can choose any, be a gladiator with white magic and become a Paladin at lvl 30 etc.)

As far as crafting goes, you pick and choose at your own will and effectively do it at your own time, not to mention its surprisingly fun to do so in this game (Been in closed beta since phase 2)

There is a lot of information behind it, but I would urge anyone reading this post to read more on the game via its main website and to participate in open beta when it arrives (6-7 weeks or so)

The only downfall is the graphical side, since its one of the most demanding mmo's ive played so far.

Oh forgot to mention you don't pay for your 1st character.

I have my name down for the open beta on ps3 just waiting to see if i get picked. Also i been trailing the main site for months about updates and that game looks immense and i really really want it.

As for the price again your right £10 a month is not really that much but when you take into account i have 2 kids so only get to play on a night + work during the day i will probably be on no more than 20 hours a month. so £10 a month is just a waste for me, if it was £10 for say a total of 720hours (30 days) that you get to use as and when you can then i would without a second thought.

so as it stands £35 game price + monthly charges = £155 a year. When you have kids, bills, debts etc to pay i can find somewhere else to spend the money.

Just read what you said about the first char are you sure, everywhere i looked said you did. Only on 1 site i saw it said u didnt?

If i can i will be getting it but as it stands its currently a no.

On a side note what type of char you going to make????

I've been playing xiv since the first alpha (the original now it's called 1.0 and arr is 2.0) The only thing this game has is graphics and animation .. great music by nabou uematsu. They've ruined the game play little by little to the point that it's so watered down and genereic boring crap that it makes me want to vomit. This game is good for an expensive eye candy mmo. I'd still be playing it... but that's because i'm a sucker for good graphics. If you want good game play I would highly recommend PSO2 (unfortunately no pvp) or age of wushu (alot of open pvp like soma but not as harsh on punishments).

I won't be.

Personally, I feel Final Fantasy doesn't work as an MMORPG. Due to the size of it, many features are either seriously watered-down or removed completely. Always better when it's single-player. Some games aren't meant to be MP.

Plus, Squenix really need to lay off the futuristic settings. It's all they seem to make lately. Not much "fantasy" about Final Fantasy anymore. It's all Sci-Fi, with a bit of magic awkwardly shoved in.

I have been playing the beta, It is the worst MMO game I have played so far, the intro is so annoying and the start is so mashed together that it took me 20 minutes to figure out which gate I had to leave to kill those bugs for one of the first quests. I only found out by running out of each one in turn to find the monsters.

Just not a good game at all! Expected more from a game that has been in full release before and had to come back because it was deemed not good enough!
